Unless otherwise stated, and approved for a waiver by the Personnel Director, all candidates are required to be legal residents of Clinton County for one month immediately preceding the date of examination. Appointing authorities may give preference to legal residents of their jurisdiction.
CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT EXAMS are examinations for which we accept applications anytime, as there is no closing date to file. Clinton County no longer requires examination fees for examinations. The scores for these examinations, regardless of exam date, are interfiled with existing candidates’ scores to form a constantly changing eligible list. Most positions require that an applicant be a legal resident of Clinton County thirty (30)
continuous days immediately prior to appointment.

There are (4) four types of classified service that do not require Civil Service examinations:
OPEN-COMPETITIVE EXAMS require that you complete a Clinton County application for examination by the specified closing date and meet the minimum qualifications.
