Profiles in Public Health

Profiles in Public Health

The Profiles in Public Health series takes a deep dive into public health issues. They share background information, local data and action steps residents, providers and community leaders can take to support public health efforts in our community. Topics include:

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding Support and Counseling

Breastfeeding provides babies security, love and food all at once! The Clinton County WIC Program promotes and supports breastfeeding as the normal way of providing infants with the nutrition they need for healthy growth and development. From our supportive staff and Peer Counselor, to our pump program and enhanced packages, we celebrate breastfeeding. WIC currently employs two IBCLC’s (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants) and one CLC’s (Certified Lactation Consultants).

Community Health Assessment & Planning

2025-2028 Community Health Assessment/ Community Health Improvement Plan

Every three years, CCHD and the University of Vermont Health Network - Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) develop a Community Health Assessment (CHA) to identify and prioritize the community health needs of Clinton County residents. We do this to better understand the factors and root causes that contribute to higher health risks and poorer health outcomes in our community.

Better Choice Retailer

Better Choice

Better Choice Retailer is a free, voluntary program aimed at making it easier for customers to find healthy foods and make healthy choices. As Better Choice Retailers, stores increase access to high quality foods and help customers make healthier choices. By becoming a Better Choice Retailer, stores support healthier choices in our community and gain real advantages for their business.
