To register to vote you must:
- Be a United States citizen;
- Be 18 years old by December 31 of the year in which you file this form (you may pre-register at 16 or 17 but cannot vote until you are 18);
- Be a resident of this state and the county, city or village for at least 10 days before the election;
- Not be in prison for a felony conviction;
- Not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court;
- Not claim the right to vote elsewhere.
How Do I Register?
To register online or to obtain a mail registration form visit the New York State Voter Registration website, or call Clinton County Board of Elections at (518) 565-4740, or by calling 1-800-FOR-VOTE. You can also request a voter registration form via email at boe@clintoncountyny.gov. Registration forms are also available at most government offices, post offices, and libraries. You must complete the form and mail to your local County Board of Elections. You may also register in person at your County Board of Elections. Be sure to sign the application before mailing.

You need to re-register to vote if:
- You move into the county;
- Changed your name;
- Changed your address; or
- Changed your party enrollment.
(Any change in party enrollment will become effective seven (7) days after the following General Election)
If you move out of Clinton County and register to vote in a new county, your new county will notify Clinton County of your change.
Optional:
You will be able to register to donate your organs and tissues by filling out the form attached to the new registration forms. These forms will be forwarded to the NYS Department of Health “Donate Life” Registry.
Verifying Your Identify.
Your Identity is verified through DMV, or the last four digits of your social security number, which you will provide on the registration form. If we cannot verify your identity before Election Day, you will be asked for ID when you vote for the first time.
