The Clinton County Advocacy Center, a victim services program which has operated out of the Probation Department since 1996 through grant funding from the New York State Office of Victim Services, ceased operations on October 1, 2014.  Unfortunately funding for continuation of the program from the NYS Office of Victim Services was lost in this year’s grant application process.  The Clinton County Advocacy Center specialized in comprehensive services for crime victims which included educating crime victims about their legal rights, advocacy through the legal process, referrals to counseling and services, victim impact preparation and assistance with filing claims with the NYS Office of Victim Services.  Anyone requiring victim services should contact one of the following agencies serving Clinton County:  Molly Nichols, Crime Victim Specialist, NYS Troop B, PO Box 100, Ray Brook, NY, (518) 897-2090; STOP Domestic Violence/Behavioral Health Services North, 22 US Oval, Suite 218, Plattsburgh, NY, (518) 563-6904; Sexual Assault Services of Planned Parenthood of the North Country, New York, Inc., 66 Brinkerhoff Street, Plattsburgh, NY, (518) 561-0605; and the Clinton County Child Advocacy Center, 46 Arizona Avenue, Plattsburgh, NY, (518) 324-6959.
